Ville-Marie takes action for peace

MONTREAL, Oct. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Karim Boulos, deputy mayor and
councillor for the Peter McGill district, will plant a tree for peace on
Friday, October 26, at 11 :30 AM. The ceremony will take place at Parc
Jos-Montferrand (located on De Maisonneuve Est between Frontenac and Du
Havre).
The occasion for the tree-planting ceremony is a stop by a young Iranian
couple on a world cycling tour. Mrs. Somayeh Nasim Yousefi and Mr. Jafar
Edrisi's have undertaken the journey to promote peace and friendship between
the people of Iran and those of the countries they are visiting.
The two young travellers left Iran in April 2007. They have cycled
through many European countries and travelled more than 1,6000 kilmetres
across Canada before arriving in Montréal today.
"I salute the initiative these two young people have taken, and
congratulate them on their concrete actions to promote peace and friendship
among the people of the world. I am pleased that I and the employees of the
Ville-Marie Borough are able to play our own part in their journey," said
Mr. Boulos.
