VIA Rail Canada Travel Advisory - VIA Rail Operations in Ontario/Quebec/Maritimes: Some cancellations; Major delays



    MONTREAL, March 9 /CNW Telbec/ - Due to heavy snow accumulation in
certain areas, VIA Rail Canada has had to cancel some departures and will only
be offering limited service today on the following routes, in both directions:
Quebec City - Montréal and Ottawa - Montréal.
    The train from Jonquière to Montréal is cancelled today.
    VIA expects however to operate all regular departures, in both
directions, on the following routes: Ottawa - Toronto, Montréal - Toronto,
Toronto - Niagara Falls, Toronto - Kitchener - London - Windsor - Sarnia and
Montréal - Halifax.
    Significant delays are expected on all routes, as snow removal crews work
to clear the tracks.
    Passengers are advised to call ahead for information on their specific
travel plans. East of Toronto, many departures are already sold out.

VIA system, customers can visit VIA's secure Web site at viarail.ca.
Passengers also can book their tickets by calling 1 888 VIA-RAIL (1 888
842-7245), TTY 1 800 268-9503 (hearing impaired). Tickets are also available
at kiosks in major Corridor stations or through their travel agent.
