Five-year deal puts spotlight on teamwork built on innovation and
excellence in Vancouver
VANCOUVER, Feb. 22 /CNW/ - Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, Vancouver's
largest law firm, announced today that it has entered into a long-term
sponsorship agreement with Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment, owner of the
Vancouver Canucks, making Fasken Martineau the Official Legal Counsel to the
team and General Motors Place.
"No other law firm has entered into such an agreement of this magnitude
before with a western Canadian NHL team and both teams are keen to advance our
common values on and off the ice," said William Westeringh, Managing Partner
of Fasken Martineau in Vancouver, one of the oldest law firms in the city.
"The Fasken Martineau team is proud of our contributions to the growth of
western Canada and the unparalleled leadership that the Vancouver Canucks
exhibit in our city."
This is the first hockey sponsorship of its type for Fasken Martineau and
the first legal counsel and marketing sponsorship agreement for the Canucks.
The agreement includes the Fasken Martineau branding presence on arena boards
and brand logos and announcements on General Motors Place's LED ring screens.
"Fasken Martineau is thrilled to partner with Vancouver and B.C.'s
premier sport franchise," said Westeringh. "Both organizations share similar
characteristics by employing teamwork and striving for excellence in order to
bring real value to fans and clients."
Fasken Martineau has been designated the Official Legal Counsel to the
Vancouver Canucks and General Motors Place. The financial terms of the
multi-season agreement were not disclosed.
"Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment is extremely pleased to announce a new
partnership between the Vancouver Canucks and Fasken Martineau," said Chris
Zimmerman, Vancouver Canucks President and CEO. "We are confident that this
new relationship will allow both companies to continue to innovate and grow in
our respective industries. The Vancouver Canucks are excited to move forward
with Fasken Martineau."
"For Fasken Martineau, this partnership is a great fit, not only because
of the passion and dedication the Canucks provide on the ice but also because
of the pride we feel through their contributions in the community," said
Westeringh. "Fasken Martineau is looking forward to supporting the team off
the ice through their current roster of charitable fundraising initiatives."
Giving back to the community is a core value for Fasken Martineau's more
than 340 lawyers and employees in Vancouver. Prior to signing the deal with
Vancouver Canucks, the Fasken Martineau team individually and collectively
donated more than $50,000 to the Stanley Park Restoration Fund in January. The
Fasken Martineau firm matched every dollar contributed by employees and
donated money based on the hours worked by lawyers and paralegals throughout
the month of January.
As the largest and one of the oldest law firms in Vancouver, Fasken
Martineau has a long, established history in the city and ensures a high level
of commitment is given to each community where it practices.
