Largest Vancouver premises move this century will shift 340 people to
heart of city's downtown business district
VANCOUVER, Nov. 28 /CNW/ - After more than two years of planning,
thousands of hours of preparation and well in excess of 200,000 pages of
information digitized, Fasken Martineau's Vancouver office embarks on the
largest office move our city has seen in the 21st century.
"Fasken Martineau's Vancouver office move is truly a momentous
undertaking and we have planned a seamless transition with a goal of having no
impact on our clients or the excellent service we provide them," said Will
Westeringh, Managing Partner.
"We are all very excited about elevating our client service to an even
higher level with this move, which is also an affirmation of our commitment to
doing business in Vancouver's downtown," said Mr. Westeringh. "We believe this
move will allow us to adopt a flexible and egalitarian office layout, use
space more effectively and invest in updated information technology to improve
efficiency and reduce our environmental footprint."

118 years of Vancouver history
Staff have unearthed hidden treasures that pay tribute to Fasken
Martineau's heritage, such as a large Inuit wood carving of a duck with a fish
in its mouth that was once bartered in exchange for legal services and a
manual payroll register dating back to the 1940s.
The firm was known as "Russell & DuMoulin" when it first moved to the
West Georgia Street location. To pay tribute to the office at 2100-1075 West
Georgia Street, all Vancouver lawyers, staff and alumni have been invited to
"DuMoulition" on November 28, a private event that will allow participants to
bid farewell by picking up a paint brush and leaving their mark on designated
areas on the 19th floor.
Fasken Martineau has previously been based at different locations
throughout the city since 1889, including:
- 1969 MacMillan Bloedel Building
- 1913 Credit Foncier Building
- 1912 Metropolitan Building
- 1896 Northern Crown Building
- 1893 Bank of British North America Building
- 1889 Cordova Street (Cordova Street and Cambie Street)
"We have moved east, west and to the middle of downtown during our long
history in Vancouver," said Mr. Westeringh. "With this move to Bentall 5, we
are now moving up to the most exceptional space we have ever occupied."
