Valcartier troops come home



    VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, Sept. 19 /CNW Telbec/ - About 100 members of
D Squadron, 12e Régiment blindé du Canada, will gradually return to Quebec
City until mid-October 2008. For the past seven months these soldiers have
worked to increase security in Afghanistan.
    The first plane is scheduled to land at Jean Lesage International Airport
on Sunday, September 21, 2008, at 4:40 a.m. There will be about 30 Canadian
Forces (CF) members on board.
    Once the members arrive at the airport, they will complete a number of
administrative procedures and then make their way home. Media representatives
who wish to meet the CF members in transit are asked to call the Public
Affairs Office of 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group in advance at one of the
numbers below.
    This period of redeployment will mark the return of the Valcartier troops
who have been deployed in Afghanistan from February to September 2008 on
Rotation 5 of Operation ATHENA.
