ALPHARETTA, GA, March 10, 2015 /CNW/ - The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has selected Rolta to design and deliver the next generation Enterprise Data Warehouse for the organization. Based on progress and success early on, UDOT is planning to substantially increase the contract for Rolta services pertaining to its new data warehouse.

A significant enhancement to UDOT's legacy system, the new UGate 2.0 Data Warehouse will support current and future query and reporting requirements as well as provide spatial capabilities to track project status, locations and metrics, and provides consistent responses on roadway construction project-related questions to users at all levels of the department.
The ability to share data across the organization was identified as a critical industry need by the Transportation Research Board. Its report, "Aligning Data Systems to Communicate with Decision Makers," recognizes that unless information is compiled from disparate systems across the enterprise and can be mined to provide answers relevant to each specific stakeholder, critical performance parameters cannot be readily uncovered, leading to sub-optimal resource allocation, missed deadlines and operational inefficiencies.
UGate 2.0 will compile and assemble detailed information about roadway construction projects across the entire job-delivery lifecycle to support informed decision making at each step of the process. The Data Warehouse will pull in project definitions, amendments, funding information, actual expenditures and tie the information spatially and based on linear referencing to allow UDOT to better assess project delivery performance as well as their investments in the state's highway system.
Designed and delivered by Rolta in partnership with Spy Pond Partners, Transcend Spatial and Utah's Department of Technology Services (DTS), the UGate 2.0 solution makes use of the latest Data Warehousing tools and technologies from Oracle, including Oracle Spatial, Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle Enterprise Data Quality tools. The new Data Warehouse will provide the foundational datasets used to deliver UDOT's spatial information dissemination platform, UPlan, built on top of the ArcGIS platform.
The next phase of the project will deliver executive dashboards, as well as bring in additional information from Financial and Asset Condition data sources to provide a single source of truth for UDOT's users and reporting environments. The UGate 2.0 Data Warehouse will also allow UDOT to meet the requirements of Federal Highways MAP 21 program for State DOTs.
