Upper Grand Teachers Ink a Tentative Deal with School Board

TORONTO, April 23 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers, members of
the Upper Grand Elementary Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers'
Federation of Ontario (ETFO), reached a tentative collective agreement with
the Upper Grand District School Board this morning.
"The ETFO takeover team has done a fantastic job for our members. They
met with the board on numerous occasions and bargained around the clock to get
a deal," said ETFO President David Clegg. "This agreement is a win/win
situation for everyone - elementary teachers, the Upper Grand District School
Board, and elementary students," Clegg said.
"Both sides of the table worked diligently to reach an agreement. I'm
pleased with what we accomplished," said Ruth McLean, President of the ETFO
Upper Grand Elementary Teacher Local. "We made significant progress in a
number of areas that are very important to our membership."
Details of the agreement will be available following a members'
ratification vote.
The Upper Grand Elementary Teacher Local represents more than 1,300
public elementary school teachers. Their contract expired August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
