Upper Grand and Rainy River Occasional Teachers Ratify New Collective Agreements

TORONTO, April 30 /CNW/ - Public elementary occasional teachers, members
of the Upper Grand and Rainy River Occasional Teacher Locals of the Elementary
Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO), ratified new four-year collective
agreements yesterday evening.
"Every ratification is an endorsement of our campaign to improve working
conditions for public elementary occasional teachers," said ETFO President
David Clegg.
"Each contract that is settled also means improved learning conditions
for students along with peace and stability for that community," Clegg said.
The Upper Grand Occasional Teacher Local represents 525 occasional
teachers and the Rainy River Occasional Teacher Local represents 85 occasional
teachers. Their last contracts expired on August 31, 2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
