Update from the field - Northern British Columbia

    GOM: TSX-V

VANCOUVER, Sept. 4 /CNW/ - Golden Dawn Minerals Inc. (GOM: TSX-V) (the
"Company") announced today that review of the northern British Columbia
mineral prospects, by corporate management of Golden Dawn Minerals, this past
week has generated an update on the Swan property in the Toodoggone belt and
the VMS project southeast of Stewart, BC. In spite of a late start, field work
is providing encouraging results to date.
The team first visited the Saunders Showing on the Swan property where
the target is epithermal gold mineralization similar to that produced from the
nearby Baker and Lawyers deposits. Drilling is on-going on the Saunders vein
systems. It is anticipated that a total of seven diamond drill holes of
approximately 150 metres each will be completed by early next week. Hole
S07-05 had been started when the team left Monday morning.
The first four holes have intersected several quartz vein systems in
which pyrite and minor chalcopyrite, frequently favourable for gold and silver
association, have been noted in the veins. Holes S07-01 and S07-02 are
completed and were designed to explore the Saunders "A" Vein. The holes have
intersected the main brecciated quartz vein structure that is similar in style
and conformable with the downward projection of the vein exposure on surface.
Other subsidiary vein systems and alteration zones have also been intersected
in these holes which potentially indicates the development of sub-parallel
multiple mineralized zones. Holes S07-03 and S07-04 are also completed and
these holes were drilled with the objective of exploring a series of
sub-parallel IP chargeability anomalies and the northerly projected extension
of the Saunders vein systems. Several narrow quartz vein structures have been
intersected in these holes. Drill hole S07-05 was currently being drilled with
the objective of exploring the Saunders B Vein that is approximately 200
metres east of the Saunders "A" Vein, and which possibly bounds the eastern
margin of the northerly-trending Saunders mineralized corridor.
All drill core samples will be analyzed and assayed by Eco-Tech
Laboratory Ltd. at Kamloops BC. The first results for Hole S07-01 are expected
in the next three weeks. These results and future results will be released as
they become available.
The management team examined the Som project that is approximately
1.2 kilometres northeast of the Saunders Showing. The induced polarization
survey which is still in the process of interpretation has indicated two
anomalous target zones. Drilling has been recommended for this season on the
westernmost target based on preliminary interpretations, by Dr. Ken Dawson,
P.Geo, the Project Geologist for the Swan project. The target here is an
intrusive-related copper-gold porphyry deposit of similar style to the nearby
producing Kemess South copper-gold deposit at the south end of the district
and the Kemess North deposit currently under development to the north of the
Kemess Mine.
The availability of a drill rig and excellent support facilities,
including helicopters and an established camp, will allow initial drilling of
the western Som induced polarization target this season. This initial test
will allow the planning of an expanded drilling program for the 2008 field
season.
On the VMS Prospect, 40 kilometres southeast of Stewart BC, multiple new
gossan showings have been located and sampled over potential precious
metal-bearing massive sulphides. In addition, some geophysical work was
conducted on the known gossan areas. This orientation work will expedite the
design of a larger geophysical program and possibly drill-testing of these
areas during the next field season. Rock chip samples have been collected and
submitted to Acme Analytical Laboratories Ltd. in Vancouver for analysis.
Continued reporting of results as they are available is anticipated.
