United Steelworkers to represent Tank Truck Transport workers

SUDBURY, ON, Aug. 21 /CNW/ - United Steelworkers' (USW) Ontario/Atlantic
Director Wayne Fraser announced Thursday that the USW has won certification to
represent employees of Tank Truck Transport Inc. in Sudbury.
The certification was granted by the Canada Industrial Relations Board
(CIRB) for drivers and mechanics employed by the company to haul slurry
(refined nickel) to and from the Xstrata mine. They also transport unrefined
nickel powder for Vale-Inco and coke (petroleum products for nickel refining)
to both mining companies.
"These workers are part of nickel industry in Sudbury and we are pleased
that they are now also part of the Steelworker family there," said USW
Ontario/Atlantic Director Wayne Fraser.

Canada's most diverse union, the USW represents more than 280,000 men and
women working in every sector of the economy.
