Ultima Foods wins big at the 2011 Packaging Association Leadership Awards

The company's 40 years of innovation is rewarded with 2 Gold Awards, 1 Silver Award, the Consumers' Voice Award, and the top prize, the Leader Among Leaders Award

MONTREAL, June 29, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Last week in Toronto, Ultima Foods bested 200 contenders and won 5 awards at the 2011 Packaging Association (PAC) Leadership Awards, a competition recognizing and celebrating exceptional achievements in packaging.

The Packaging Association has been the voice of the Canadian packaging industry since 1950. PAC has over 375 corporate and more than 1,000 associate members which represent 75% of the most recognised names in a wide range of industry-related member categories.  "These awards are a tribute to the hard work that we at Ultima Foods put into creating products that are both good and beautiful," said Diane Jubinville, Director of Public and Consumer Relations at Ultima Foods.

"Ongoing improvement and innovation has been the cornerstone of our business practices for over 40 years. We consider both aspects of our products: their content and their packaging.  Consumers first taste with their eyes, so we apply the same standards of excellence and quality to our packaging as we do to what's inside," she added.

Ultima Foods with its suppliers Bemis and Bo-Branding earned a Silver Award for the innovative Yoplait Minigo packaging; a Gold Award for the new design done by Forthought Design inc. on the 650 g Yoplait Source containers, which take up 17% less space on store shelves than the usual round containers and which are more eco-friendly, a value the company holds dear; another Gold Award shared with Forthought Design Inc. and Excel-Pac for the 2 kg pouches of Yoplait Source and Yoplait Creamy, which also won the Consumers' Voice Award for their innovative design and packaging. Ultima Foods also took home the top prize, the coveted Leader Among Leaders Award, which acknowledges the entry that best combines the merits of technical packaging design and sustainability. This is the second time in history that this award has been bestowed. The first winner was Molson.
