TORONTO, Sept. 1, 2011 /CNW/ - Veteran broadcasters Lloyd Robertson and
Andy Walsh have been named to the Canadian News Hall of Fame for 2011.
Robertson, the longest-serving national news anchor in TV history,
retires this week after serving 57 years with the CBC and CTV networks.
Walsh has been in radio broadcasting since 1951, starting in Cornwall,
Ontario, and is currently news anchor at News1130 in Vancouver, BC.
They will be inducted at a gala banquet in Toronto in November.
The News Hall of Fame was founded by the Toronto Press Club in 1965 and
now honors more than 100 men and women who have made a significant
contribution to journalism in Canada. They include newspaper,
television and radio reporters, editors, publishers, cartoonists,
columnists and authors.
