TROIS-RIVIERES, QC, Feb. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - Acting on behalf of the
Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development,
Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière,
today announced the awarding of $292,500 in repayable funding to Geothentic
Inc. to support the firm's efforts to develop new markets in North Africa and
Latin America over the next two years.
Founded in March 2006 by dynamic young entrepreneurs Guillaume and Pascal
Poudrier, Geothentic Inc. specializes in the development of computer hardware
for the transport industry. The result of considerable research and
development, "ORCA", the company's flagship product, allows users to attach an
electronic antitheft and ignition interlock device to their fleet management
system, ensuring them better control over their equipment, enhanced vehicle
safety and substantial fuel savings.
"The Government of Canada is committed to supporting enterprises that,
like Geothentic Inc., are undertaking projects to improve their
competitiveness and to develop new markets. This commitment, clearly reflected
in our latest budget, is all the more crucial during this time of economic
turbulence. Canada Economic Development has put programs and measures in place
to help companies become more competitive and, to that end, provides support
to those seeking to innovate, incorporate leading-edge technologies into their
practices and expand into international markets," stated Mr. Gourde.
This funding from Canada Economic Development will enable Geothentic Inc.
to hire two new resources, one in sales and the other in marketing, as well as
cover the costs of product certification and patents, take part in trade fairs
and develop promotional materials. Once this project is completed, Geothentic
Inc. should be in a position to offer its products to small and medium-sized
enterprises at an affordable price and propel itself to the forefront as a
leader in transport fleet management solutions.
This contribution has been granted under the Export component of Canada
Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program.
