TORONTO, April 21 /CNW/ - Public elementary occasional teachers, members
of the Trillium Lakelands Occasional Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers'
Federation of Ontario (ETFO), reached a tentative agreement with the Trillium
Lakeheads District School Board last night following a lengthy bargaining
"Occasional teachers are fully-qualified teachers certified by the
College of Teachers. This tentative agreement recognizes the qualifications
and experience that our members bring to area classrooms every day. Public
elementary schools could not function without the ongoing contributions of
these dedicated professionals," said David Clegg, ETFO President.
"This is a good deal for our members and for the Muskoka, Haliburton, and
Kawartha Lakes communities. It ensures that high quality student learning will
continue on an uninterrupted basis because of the work of qualified
professionals who feel they are respected by their employer," said John
McClelland, President of the ETFO Trillium Lakelands Occasional Teacher Local.

The Trillium Lakelands Occasional Teacher Local represents approximately
350 public elementary occasional teachers. Their last contract expired August
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
