Reminding Ontarians there are 1087 men on the waiting list
TORONTO, June 13 /CNW/ - Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) is
honouring Fathers and men this Father's Day by urging families to talk to
their loved ones and register their wishes to become organ and tissue donors.
"As you are celebrating with your Father this weekend please take a
moment to talk with your loved ones about your organ and tissue donation
wishes," said Frank Markel, President and CEO of TGLN. "We all have the power
to save lives."
One organ donor has the power to save up to eight lives and enhance the
lives of 75 others through tissue donation.
Mackenzie and Nathaniel Casey, ages four and two, are celebrating
Father's Day with their Dad, Peter, who is also celebrating his second
anniversary of receiving a kidney transplant.
"I am thrilled every Father's Day to spend time with the kids chasing
them around at the neighbourhood playground and teaching them how to ride a
tricycle," said Peter Casey, of Toronto. "I might not be here without my
transplant. I can now live life to the fullest with my children and that is an

1087 are men. These men are our fathers, sons, brothers, grandfathers, uncles
and friends who are all waiting to receive the gift of life.
"It's critical to share your decision with your family, as they will be
asked for final consent to donate your organs after your death. Discuss your
intentions with them so they can understand, support and respect your wishes
in the future," said Markel.
Register your wishes to be an organ and tissue donor by going to the
Trillium Gift of Life Network website (www.giftoflife.on.ca) and downloading
an "Organ and Tissue Donor Registration" form, fill it out and mail it in to
the address on the form.
