Trigon Successfully Expands Uranium Resource at Marysvale

KELOWNA, BC, June 18 /CNW/ - Trigon Uranium Corp. ("Trigon" or "the
Company") (TSX-V:TEL) is very pleased to announce the successful completion of
its Phase One drilling program on its Marysvale uranium project in central
Utah. The results confirm the presence of thick continuous zones of uranium at
Marysvale and support the company's opinion that the property hosts a
bulk-mineable uranium deposit. The average uranium content in the mineralized
intersections was 0.063% eU(3)O(8), or 1.26 pounds of eU(3)O(8) per ton using
a cut-off grade of 0.02% eU(3)O(8). Intersections included 20 feet of
0.155% eU(3)O(8) (3.1 pounds eU(3)O(8)) in hole MV07-5, which shows grades as
high as 0.609% eU(3)O(8) (12.2 pounds eU(3)O(8) per pound) and 24 feet of
0.097% eU(3)O(8) (1.94 pounds per ton eU(3)O(8)) in hole MV07-11.
A total of 6,490 feet of vertical and angle drilling was completed in 16
reverse circulation drill holes. The holes were gamma logged for equivalent
uranium concentrations. In addition to successfully expanding the area of
known uranium mineralization the drill program has also confirmed the
historical drill hole data on the property. The main objective for the Phase
One drilling was to extend a highly mineralized zone discovered by the
previous operator, Phillips Uranium Inc. ("Phillips"), in 1981. This zone has
now been extended 400 ft in a northeasterly direction thus significantly
increasing the amount of known uranium on the property. The property shows
excellent potential to host several times the mineralization identified to
date as the highly mineralized zone remains open ended both to the northeast
and south.
Two historical drill holes were "twinned" by Trigon and produced results
similar to the historical data. The company is satisfied that the historical
Phillips data is reliable. Starting in 1978, Phillips drilled some 200 drill
holes, identifying a reported 1.8 Million lbs of uranium(1) before the decline
in uranium prices caused the cessation of exploration activities at Marysvale.
The drill results indicate that a major fault zone in close proximity to
the main mineralization is an important ore controlling factor in the project
area. This information will greatly assist the company in planning the next
phases of work at Marysvale. Phases Two and Three are scheduled to take up to
24 months to complete and will include a large reverse circulation drill
program, core drilling, metallurgical leach tests and baseline environmental
studies. The main objective of Phases Two and Three will be to delineate the
mineral resource at Marysvale. The start of the Phase Two work is scheduled
for later this year.
The intercepts for the Phase One drill holes are tabulated below. Only
those intervals exceeding 0.02% equivalent uranium, the assumed cut-off grade
for bulk mining, are shown. During the drilling program a total of 240 drill
chip samples were submitted for chemical analysis of uranium content to Chemex
Laboratories in West Vancouver. After the results for the first 100 samples
were received the gamma logging equipment was re-calibrated. The previously
reported drilling results have been adjusted to reflect this re-calibration.
The equivalent uranium grades provided below correlate well with the results
from the drill chip samples.
