OTTAWA, Oct. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The Assembly of First Nations announced
today that the City of Calgary and Treaty 7 First Nations submitted the
winning bid to host the 30th Annual General Assembly next July. The upcoming
AGA will also be an election year for the National Chief.
"There were three excellent submissions from Saskatoon, Winnipeg and
Calgary to host the AGA next year. However, after careful consideration in an
open and transparent process and much deliberation, the bid submitted by
Treaty 7 and the City of Calgary came out on top," the National Chief Phil
Fontaine noted. "I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Calgary next July
for what I expect will be an exciting Annual General Assembly."
The proposed dates for the AGA are July 21-23, 2009.
The Assembly of First Nations is the national organization representing
