Industry first PriceGuardian monitors for lower cost packages after you
book and refunds the difference
TORONTO, June 2 /CNW/ - Travelocity.ca announced today the introduction
of the Travelocity PriceGuardian(SM) programme for its "Create Your Own"
vacation packages, to help address a common concern of anxious travellers:
"What if the price of my vacation drops after I book my trip?"
With the Travelocity PriceGuardian programme, when a customer plans and
books a flight and hotel package online with Travelocity.ca, they can be sure
they're going to get a good price. If the cost of either the flight or
accommodation components drop prior to their trip, such that another customer
later books the exact same vacation package on Travelocity.ca at a lower total
price, Travelocity.ca will automatically refund the difference to the
customer, from $10 up to $500.
"In this tough economy, consumers are carefully watching how they spend
every single hard-earned dollar," says Brian Simpson, General Manager of
Travelocity.ca. "With PriceGuardian, we're doing what we can to ensure our
customers are confident they are getting a great price on some of the
incredible deals that are already out there."
According to Travelocity's 2009 Forecast poll, as the economy has
softened, custom flight plus hotel vacation packages have become increasingly
popular with value-conscious consumers. Travelocity.ca research shows that
customers save on average US$389 on a vacation package versus booking the same
flight and hotel separately.
Given consumers' concerns that prices may drop closer to the time of
travel, Travelocity.ca's programme takes away the worry. PriceGuardian allows
customers to select and book their vacation when they're ready to (and when
they have the money available), knowing they'll still get a great deal, even
if someone else is able to book the same package on Travelocity.ca at a lower
price closer to the vacation date. This is the first time protection of this
kind has been made available in Canada by an online travel company on vacation
Four Key Facts about Travelocity's PriceGuardian:

to the original customer, from $10 up to $500.
