Curious drivers can get behind the wheel of Canada's leading hybrid
TORONTO, June 6 /CNW/ - This summer, Toyota Canada is taking their
hybrids on the road to demonstrate the technology to Canadians and let them
experience a hybrid from the driver's seat. Designed to take vehicles out of
the showroom and into communities, the Toyota Hybrid Tour is scheduled to
visit 12 malls across the country. The tour will launch at Ottawa's Sparks
Street Mall on June 6 to coincide with Canadian Environment Week, and will run
throughout the summer at locations across the country.
The program will allow consumers to learn how hybrid vehicles work, and
to understand the environmental benefits of hybrids and eco-friendly
automotive technologies. The tour will feature an interactive information and
display centre as well as Toyota's current hybrid models, the Prius,
Highlander Hybrid and Camry Hybrid.
At almost all of the tour stops, consumers will be invited to test drive
a Toyota hybrid vehicle. These test drives will allow consumers to experience
the hybrid's technology, such as the energy monitor that gives real-time
information on how the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive system is powering the
vehicle. Moreover, the drives will also show visitors just how familiar it can
be to drive one of these vehicles. Consumers who participate in the Toyota
Hybrid Tour can also enter to win a one-year lease of a Toyota Prius.
"Climate change is top of mind for Canadians and they take this into
consideration when making decisions about their life, including buying a car,"
said Stephen Beatty, Managing Director for Toyota Canada Inc. "We want to show
people that they can be environmentally responsible without compromising
personal style or the joy of driving."
"Many consumers are curious about hybrids and how the vehicles actually
work," said Beatty. "This tour gives us the opportunity to answer those
questions and to demystify the hybrid. It also allows drivers to get behind
the wheel and experience the technology in action."
The tour will be visiting Ottawa, Quebec City, Laval, Montreal,
Mississauga, Vaughan, Halifax, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Burnaby and
Richmond this summer. For more information, visit www.toyota.ca.
