Slices, dices and sautés his way to win a spot at Finals Competition in
TORONTO, Feb. 4 /CNW/ - You could cut the tension with a knife as
Toronto's Bryan McMillan was announced the winner of the 6th Annual
S.Pellegrino(TM) Almost Famous Chef(SM) Canadian Regional Competition held
today at George Brown College in Toronto. Bryan will now go on to represent
Canada at the Finals Competition in Napa Valley in March. At the Finals event,
he will vie against nine other competitors from the United States for the
chance to win a $10,000 US cash prize, an exclusive opportunity to work with a
nationally-renowned chef, and the honour of becoming this year's S.Pellegrino
Almost Famous Chef.
Faced with heated competition, six culinary peers representing George
Brown College, Institut de tourisme et d'hôtellerie du Québec and The
International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Vancouver, were given
two hours to prepare their one-of-a-kind signature dishes. In the end, Bryan's
recipe had the most sizzle, impressing professional chef and media judges with
his innovative creation of Porcini-Dusted Halibut, Braised Short Ribs.
"It is a privilege to represent Canada at such a prestigious event," said
Bryan. "The next level of the Almost Famous Chef competition will provide me
with an extraordinary opportunity to hone my skills as I go head to head with
the top culinary students in North America."
The Almost Famous Chef Competition was created by S.Pellegrino(R)

Canadian Regionals judging panel was comprised of an impressive list of
celebrity chefs and media, including Toronto's Jason Rosso of The Distillery
