Torontonians choose "It's Easy to Love a City that Loves You Back" as winner of fourth annual Astral Media Outdoor Student Design Competition

    TORONTO, May 28 /CNW/ - Torontonians have voted and the results are in!
This year's Astral Media Outdoor Student Design Competition winner is "It's
Easy to Love a City that Loves You Back," soon to be seen on 50 transit
shelters across the city. The winning design was unveiled this morning after
more than 6,500 people voted for their favourite concept at
www.mytorontois.com.
    "I am delighted by the innovation and imagination of this year's winner.
The design offers a very unique view of Toronto which includes a creative
twist on cultural optimism," said Luc Sabbatini, President, Astral Media
Outdoor. "Torontonians have once again chosen a concept that displays pride
and admiration for their city."
    The winning design, "It's Easy to Love a City that Loves You Back," is a
portrait of the city demonstrating the feeling people get when they live in
Toronto. Team members include Meghan Ciliberti, Patrice Pollack and Ofelia
Haroutunian.
    In addition to having their ad on transit shelters across Toronto, the
winning team also receives $3,000 in prize money and a $2,000 donation to a
charity of their choice. The other finalists receive $500 per team and each
receive one half credit paid for their next semester at OCAD.
    "This model partnership with Astral Media Outdoor is another example of
the kind of real-life opportunities we like to give our students," said Tony
Kerr, Chair of OCAD's undergraduate Advertising program. "By creating these
ads, OCAD students gain valuable experience, feedback and exposure for their
work, enhancing their learning experience."
    The Astral Media Outdoor "My Toronto Is" Student Design Competition, in
partnership with the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD), engaged
third-year advertising students to express their vision of the city through
original outdoor artwork. Students who chose to participate were challenged to
create original outdoor artwork that responds to the statement "My Toronto is"
with a creative expression of cultural optimism.
    The winning ad will be displayed on Astral Media Outdoor transit shelters
throughout Toronto during the month of June.
