Toronto Port Authority responds to Air Canada Jazz allegations

TORONTO, Oct. 26 /CNW/ - Earlier today, Air Canada Jazz issued a
statement regarding the Toronto Port Authority's management of the Toronto
City Centre Airport (TCCA).
Following that statement, Air Canada issued its own statement today at
1:14 p.m. supporting Jazz, its regional carrier.
As the guardian of Toronto's harbour transportation assets, the Toronto
Port Authority is mandated by the federal government to operate the Toronto
City Centre Airport according to proper business and aviation practices.
"Our federal mandate requires us to ensure that these transportation
assets are well-maintained, safe, efficient, and properly marketed and
utilized," said TPA CEO Lisa Raitt.
Ms. Raitt added that since there are outstanding legal issues between Air
Canada Jazz and the TPA, she will not comment on the specifics of Jazz's
claim.
