Toronto Hydro offers a range of simple ways to transact if mail service is interrupted

TORONTO, June 2, 2011 /CNW/ - In the event of an interruption of mail delivery from Canada Post, Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited ("Toronto Hydro") wants its customers to be aware of easy alternative options for bill payment and account information access.

If postal service is interrupted, Toronto Hydro customers remain responsible for paying their bills by the required payment date. Toronto Hydro has a range of payment options available.

        eBills: Customers on ebilling will continue to receive their ebills and can pay them electronically.

Drop Boxes: Deposit cheque payments in drop boxes accessible at Toronto Hydro's offices located at 5800 Yonge Street and 14 Carlton Street. Please include your name, address, telephone number, and Toronto Hydro account number information with your cheque, to ensure payment is directed to the correct account.

Through your financial institution: Pay via telephone banking or online using internet banking with your financial institution. If you have your account number you may also make a payment with the teller or set up your accounts on the ATM and pay at the machine.

Through any Royal Bank of Canada ("RBC") branch: You may walk into any RBC branch with an envelope marked to the Attention of Toronto Hydro, containing your cheque made payable to Toronto Hydro, with your name, Toronto Hydro account number, address, and telephone number included.  RBC will forward your cheque to Toronto Hydro's processing centre on your behalf.

It's easy to determine your approximate bill due date. Please check the due date on your last Toronto Hydro bill to determine your current bill due date. If you're billed every other month (bi-monthly), your bill is due approximately 60-days after the previous bill was due. If you're billed every month, your bill is due approximately 30-days after the previous bill was due.

Customers can call Toronto Hydro's Customer Care line at 416.542.8000 to obtain account balances. Have your Account or Meter number ready. Listen for instructions from the automated phone agent and press 3 and then 4 to obtain account balances. This information is available on the phone system two weeks prior to the bill due date.

Time-of-Use (TOU) data presentment:

Toronto Hydro customers who are billed on TOU rates may access their electricity usage data electronically if they have previously registered on our website.  Customers interested can sign up at torontohydro.com/tou; however, please note account activation codes are delivered via mail or in the event of a strike can be obtained through Toronto Hydro's Customer Care.
