TORONTO, April 26 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro crews have continued to make
significant progress today in restoring power to remaining areas of the City
that were affected by power outages as a result of severe rain storm yesterday
As of approximately 8:30 p.m., Toronto Hydro System Control reports that
approximately 700 customers remain without power in various areas of the City.
Repair efforts continue to be largely focused in Scarborough on Finch
Avenue East, as well as Midland Road and St. Clair Avenue East as numerous
poles down caused extensive damage to those areas last night. Crews will
continue to work throughout Sunday evening to repair and restore power as
quickly as possible.
Toronto Hydro trouble and triage crews continue to be dispatched to
smaller, localized outages throughout the City and power restoration work will
continue well into Monday morning in some areas.
The City of Toronto reminds all residents to refer to the latest edition
of Our Toronto issued last week which includes power outage tips and an
emergency planning guide.
