Toronto Elementary Teachers Approve Tentative Agreement

TORONTO, April 25 /CNW/ - Elementary public school teachers, members of
the Toronto Elementary Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of
Ontario (ETFO), reached a tentative collective agreement with the Toronto
District School Board yesterday evening.
"The ETFO takeover team has done a fantastic job for our members. They
met with the board on numerous occasions and bargained around the clock to get
a deal," said ETFO President David Clegg. "This agreement benefits elementary
teachers, the Toronto District School Board, and elementary students," Clegg
said.
Details of the agreement will be available following a members'
ratification vote.
The Toronto Elementary Teacher Local represents approximately 10,000
public elementary school teachers. Their last contract expired August 31,
2008.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
