Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network announces new board chair



    TORONTO, April 11 /CNW/ - The Toronto Central Local Health Integration
Network (LHIN) today announced Mohamed Dhanani as chair of the board. Mr.
Dhanani received a master of public health in the faculty of medicine at Yale
University and is an eminent member of the South Asian community.
    "Mr. Dhanani brings an impressive background and valuable knowledge of
the health care field to the Toronto Central community," said Barry Monaghan,
CEO of the Toronto Central LHIN. "His experience will be vital as we continue
with the important work we've been doing."
    LHINs are local health organizations designed to plan, integrate and fund
local health services - including hospitals, community care access centres,
home care, long-term care, mental health, community health centres as well as
addiction and community support services - within a specific geographic area.
    "Mohamed Dhanani has a great deal of valuable health care experience as
well as a strong record of community involvement that will serve him well as
chair of the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network," said George
Smitherman, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.
    Dhanani, who owns a drug store in Logan Lake, British Columbia, was
director of mental health and addiction services for the Interior Health
Authority in B.C. Prior to that, he was a management consultant on health care
practice with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and a consultant with the Ontario
Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care's Health Reform Implementation Team.
    "I'm delighted about this new and exciting role," Dhanani said. "I'm
looking forward to applying my senior management experience and training in
regional health services to the Toronto Central LHIN."
    Dhanani, who is a board member of the Flemingdon Food Bank, also served
on the Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board for Canada.
