BRANDON, MB, Jan. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - Vic Toews, President of the Treasury
Board and Member of Parliament for Provencher, today spoke to the Brandon
Chamber of Commerce about Budget 2009: Canada's Economic Action Plan.
"Canada continues to fare better than many other countries and this is in
large part because of the action we took early on. We have reduced taxes, paid
down debt, and invested in infrastructure," said Toews.
"Our multi-year Economic Action Plan is designed to meet the challenges
we are facing. We have listened to the concerns and advice of Canadians and
come up with a balanced approach that stimulates our economy for the short
term, and builds our capacity for the long term," said Toews.
"We are investing in all regions and provinces, including right here in
Manitoba. This will mean funding for roads, bridges, recreational facilities
and water and sewer system upgrades. Not to mention significant tax relief and
tax credits for things such as home renovations," concluded Toews.
