To conquer North American markets - Canada's new government awards $285,850 in funding to Groupe Parabris Inc.

    ALMA, QC, June 26 /CNW Telbec/ - The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn,
Minister of Labour and Minister of Canada Economic Development, today
announced the awarding of $285,850 in repayable funding to Groupe Parabris
Inc. to carry out a commercialization plan of its quick set-up, portable
TopTent(TM) on U.S. markets. Completion of this project will lead to the
creation and maintenance of some 20 jobs and the investment of more than
$678,000.
Manufactured in aluminium by the firm Alutech TTRG of Alma, TopTent(TM)
is the result of research and development funded by the Centre québécois de
recherche et de développement de l'aluminium, the National Research Council of
Canada and Canada Economic Development. The only one of its kind, TopTent(TM)
stands apart from the competition by virtue of its high-quality materials,
quick installation, portability and unique design. This top-of-the-line
product is popular among arts and entertainment, convention and sporting event
organizers.
"As our long-term economic plan shows, Canada's new government is
committed to principles and policies that will set the stage for economic
growth and new business opportunities. That same commitment to progress can be
seen in this Groupe Parabris project. This initiative will help increase the
firm's marketing capabilities and improve its competitiveness. The support
from Canada Economic Development will also serve to foster the development of
Canada's aluminium industrial cluster, whose regional nucleus is enjoying full
expansion," stated Minister Blackburn.
"TopTent(TM) is the fruit of concerted action by a number of regional
stakeholders from the aluminium sector. Canada Economic Development's support
of our foreign marketing efforts will give us the means we need to pursue our
innovation process in order to fully capitalize on the potential of our
products," added Groupe Parabris President Paul-André Bouchard.
This government funding is awarded through Canada Economic Development's
Business and Regional Growth Program, an initiative whose aim is to strengthen
the conditions conducive to the sustainable growth of the regions and small
and medium-sized enterprises. This program seeks to, among other things, help
businesses improve their performance, become more competitive and engage in
more innovation to facilitate their sustainable growth.
