Time to call on your INSTINCT?

New survey reveals when Canadians rely on the power of their sixth sense

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Aug. 19 /CNW/ - Whether you call it following your gut,
listening to your heart; or feeling your "spidey senses" tingle, a new study
has confirmed that Canadians do call on their instincts when it comes to
decision making.
According to a recent Angus Reid Strategies survey commissioned by
Samsung Electronics Canada, 33 per cent of Canadians say their instincts never
let them down, while only one per cent of Canadians believe their instincts
miss the mark every time. Sixty-one per cent of Canadians believe there is a
balance in the accuracy of their instincts.
Whether you're a gut instinct believer or skeptic, Samsung Electronics
Canada has given a new meaning to calling on your instinct. With the
availability of its newest and most innovative handset, the Samsung INSTINCT -
available today through TELUS - users can find answers to life's daily
dilemmas with its turn-by-turn GPS navigation, HTML browsing capabilities and
web-based email access.
"Samsung is committed to creating technologically advanced devices that
enhance the lives of our customers," said Paul Brannen, General Manager,
Wireless Terminal Division, Samsung Electronics Canada. "While our INSTINCT
device is not intended to replace a person's instincts, it does have several
features that may help if your own instincts let you down."
The survey found that Canadians mostly rely on their instincts when
forming an opinion on someone they just meet (61 per cent); when lost and in
need of directions (14 per cent); when making financial decisions
(10 per cent); career decisions (8 per cent) and matters of romance
(7 per cent).
And if you're wondering whose instincts are most likely to fail, the
survey revealed that both males and females agree that there's something to be
said about female intuition with 29 per cent of males and 71 per cent of
females believing women have more accurate instincts.
Canadians can test their instincts through an interactive and unique
YouTube video where viewers can steer the outcome of a young professional's
day as he faces interesting and entertaining dilemmas regarding his work and
personal life. Viewers can view the chose-your-own-adventure video entitled
Follow Your Instinct at: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=HoOCiaxIZF4
The study was conducted from August 5 to August 6, 2008 and surveyed
1,004 adult Canadians. It is considered accurate within +/- 3.1%, 19 times out
of 20.
Samsung Instinct is available today at TELUS for as little as $129.99 on
a three-year contract, with activation of a $15 or higher Bundle to keep for a
minimum of three months, or $399.99 without a contract. For more information
