Thousands of Youth Will Celebrate On Their Feet!

    Uniterra presents the World Youth Walk with Luck Mervil

    OTTAWA, Aug. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - On August 12th, Québec performer Luck
Mervil will celebrate youth engagement with thousands of leaders who will walk
through Quebec City on UN International Youth Day. On behalf of Uniterra, he
will lead the World Youth Walk occurring as part of ReGeneration 2008, the 4th
World Youth Congress to be held next August in Quebec City.
    "This is a celebration that recognizes the efforts in world development
that young people have been making around the globe," says Sylvain Matte,
Director of the Uniterra programme. "We are thrilled that Luck Mervil is
lending his panache and talent to help us celebrate."
    Uniterra, one of Canada's leading volunteer cooperation programmes, is a
joint effort of World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and the Center for
International Studies and Cooperation (CECI). Uniterra allows citizens and
organizations to help reach the 8 Millennium Development Goals to reduce world
    Above and beyond the implementation of the World March for Youth,
Uniterra will be involved in a variety of activities during the World Youth
Congress, which will draw 500 young men and woman from 110 countries (Details

    Uniterra mobilizes over 400 volunteers of all ages, annually, on various
projects in 13 countries across the world. These volunteers help over 125
partners of the global South in development initiatives to visibly reduce
poverty in their communities. Partner groups returned volunteers and Local
Committee members mobilize the Canadian population in support of international
cooperation and achieving the Millennium Development Goals. To date, they have
reached more than half-a-million Canadians to underline the importance of
International Development.
