Thomson Announces US$800 Million Note Offering



    STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 28 /CNW/ -- The Thomson Corporation (NYSE:   TOC;
TSX: TOC), one of the world's leading providers of electronic solutions,
software and services to business and professional customers, today announced
the offering of US$800 million of notes due October 1, 2014.

    The notes will bear interest at an annual rate of 5.70% and the offering
is expected to close on October 2, 2007, subject to customary closing
conditions. Thomson intends to use the net proceeds of the offering to repay
indebtedness and for general corporate purposes. Deutsche Bank Securities
Inc., Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated and UBS Securities
LLC are the joint book-running managers for the offering.
