This June, have a blast on the Main!

    MONTREAL, June 4 /CNW Telbec/ - On Saint-Laurent Boulevard, the major
construction works are coming to a halt to make room for the party! The
Société de développement du boulevard Saint-Laurent is most pleased to unveil
its big events of the summer: from June 7 to 9, the grand premiere of Grand
Prix on the Main, and from June 14 to 17, the notorious Main Madness! More
than 200 stores will offer numerous promotions and rebates.
Come celebrate the different colours and flavours of Saint-Laurent
Boulevard, from Sherbrooke Street all the way to Mont-Royal Avenue!
"We are pleased that the City of Montreal has collaborated with us in
order to allow this break from the construction works, so we can hold our June
events" comments Gordon Bernstein, President of the Board of the Société de
développement du boulevard Saint-Laurent. "This break is a prelude to the
renaissance we are expecting for 2008 when the major works will be completely
finished, and when we will invite people to come celebrate the renewal of the
Main."
All new for the Grand Prix on the Main from June 7 to 9 - a superb
vintage car exhibition will dress up the Boulevard. Come listen to a Dixie
Band, see a wild rockabilly show under the sun, or groove to Saint-Laurent's
DJs and their beats under the stars. Be sure not to miss the great swing
dancer gathering on Saturday June 9 in the afternoon! Three days of fun and
entertainment for the whole family.
The party goes on June 14 to 17 with Main Madness, a bona fide festival
of sounds, colours and flavours, celebrating this year, with the special
collaboration of Parks Canada, the Main's cultural diversity. The Fiesta
Corona Stage (located corner Prince-Arthur and Saint-Laurent) will feature
sunshine-laden Latino performances. The street will be transformed into a
giant open-air dance floor. Salsa and merengue lovers will not want to miss
this rendezvous. Also plan to enjoy and even partake in an energetic
percussion parade!
Over 600 000 visitors are expected during these festivities on the
metropolis' most thrilling street, on a site covering a territory of 1.7
kilometres, where cultures from all corners of the world mingle. For the third
year in a row, the Main pursues its green approach in collaboration with the
Consortium Echo-Logique, thanks to the placement of 40 recycling bins on the
site's entirety during the events. We invite all site visitors to make a
concrete gesture for the environment by using these bins.
