Walk or run in support of prostate cancer
VANCOUVER, June 14 /CNW/ - Dust off those runners, stretch out your
calves and get ready for the 10th annual Safeway Father's Day Walk/Run for
prostate cancer. On Sunday, June 15, 2008 prostate cancer survivors,
supporters, friends and families will meet at Burnaby Lake to walk or run for
the men in their lives.
The Safeway Father's Day Walk/Run is a national event honouring Canadian
Dads - past and present. All funds raised support research into the
prevention, detection and treatment of the disease.
Registration for the event will begin at 8:00am and participants will hit
the road at 10:30am. It will be a fantastic morning of fitness, community
involvement and, of course, some exciting prizes. The first ten runners across
the finish line will receive a pair of men's Haggar pants and participants who
raise more than $2,000 will be entered to win a trip for two anywhere Air
Canada flies. We also have over 500 draw prizes.
This Father's Day: be there. Honour the special man in your life by
taking a stand against prostate cancer, a disease which affects 1 in 8 men in
their lifetime and is the number one cancer threat to Canadian men.
The Safeway Father's Day Walk/Run is sponsored by Canada Safeway, Carter
Auto Family, Golf Town, Mercedes-Benz, Boost, One-A- Day Vitamins, Running
Room, Walking Room, Air Canada, Vancouver Giants, Red Mountain Resort,
AstraZeneca, Subway, JD Sweid Foods, CTV, The Vancouver Sun, The Province,
Team 1040, Van-Net and Pattison Outdoor.
