Walk or run in support of prostate cancer
TORONTO, June 14 /CNW/ - Dust off those runners, stretch out your calves
and get ready for the 8th annual Father's Day Walk/Run for prostate cancer. On
Sunday, June 15, 2008 prostate cancer survivors, supporters and families will
join the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada at the Distillery
District and walk or run for the men in their lives.
The Father's Day Walk/Run is a national event honouring Canadian Dads -
past and present. All funds raised support research into the prevention,
detection and treatment of the disease. In 2007, more than 2,000 people joined
the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada at events across the country
raising over $460,000.
Registration for the event will begin at 8:00am and participants will hit
the road at 9:30am. It will be a fantastic morning of fitness, community
involvement and, of course, some exciting prizes. The first ten runners across
the finish line will receive a pair of men's Haggar pants and participants who
raise more than $2,000 will be entered to win a trip for two anywhere Air
This Father's Day: be there. Honour the special man in your life by
taking a stand against prostate cancer, a disease which affects 1 in 8 men in
their lifetime and is the number one cancer threat to Canadian men.
The Father's Day Walk/Run is sponsored by Golf Town, Mercedes-Benz,
Boost, One-A-Day Vitamins, Running Room, Walking Room, Air Canada, CFRB1010,
97.3 EZ Rock and Ontario's Finest Inns.
