Thirteen Young Canadians Get a Chance to See Their Education Dreams Come True

    - USC Education Savings Plan Inc. announces $120,000 in scholarships for
    post-graduate education -

TORONTO, Sept. 5 /CNW/ - Medicine, natural resources, religion and
international relations. These are some of the areas in which 13 young
Canadians plan to shine in their post-graduate studies with the help of a
monetary scholarship that will see a combined $120,000 put towards some of
Canada's brightest talent.
The annual award is sponsored by the International Scholarship Foundation
(ISF), the parent company of USC Education Savings Plans Inc. (USCI). The
scholarship provides winners with a one-time scholarship based on merit, with
the top award valued at $25,000. Students are judged on their academic
excellence and their involvement in both their university and local community.
"The recipients of this year's awards have made significant contributions
to their academic areas of interest as well as to their campus and local
communities," says Michael Geraghty, President & CEO, ISF and USCI. "These
awards will help these talented young people pursue educational excellence and
make a significant impact in their areas of interest well into the future."
Students who held a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) with USCI
while completing their undergraduate degrees were eligible to apply for the
post-graduate award. This year, there were over 60 submissions, and 13
winners.
"The International Scholarship Foundation believes in recognizing
excellence and giving back to the families we serve," says Geraghty. "Over the
last 17 years we have continued to increase the number and value of awards
handed out to help more deserving students achieve their goals of higher
education."
Submissions are currently being accepted for next year's awards at
www.usc.ca.

USC Education Savings Plans Inc. has been distributing RESPs for over 40
years. Total assets under administration are $2.2 billion and $1.4 billion has
been paid out to parents and qualified students. The company has over 400
licensed representatives and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the International
Scholarship Foundation.
