has been named the winner of this year's Gil Bennett Gold Standard Award by
The Directors College, Canada's only university-accredited director education
Named in honour of former Canadian Tire chairman Gil Bennett, the award
is presented annually to a graduate of The Directors College who demonstrates
dedication to raising the bar for professional standards in corporate
governance, both through their work in the Chartered Director program and in
their experience as directors. The award was first presented in 2006.
"Adam Cooper represents all of the fine qualities that we look for in
selecting the Gil Bennett Award winner. In particular, his keen intellect
combines with a set of outstanding behavioural skills and together they
inspire great governance around any boardroom table at which he sits," said
Chris Bart, Principal and Lead Professor of The Directors College.
Founded by The Conference Board of Canada and the DeGroote School of
Business, McMaster University, The Directors College is Canada's gold standard
in director education. It is the first and only university-accredited director
education program in the country that leads to the professional designation

Mr. Cooper received the award at a ceremony today, held in conjunction
with The Conference Board of Canada/ Spencer Stuart 2008 National Awards in
