Uniting the progressive vote in Westmount--Ville-Marie
MONTREAL, Oct. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - After 76 days of active campaigning, a
wind of change is blowing in Westmount-Ville-Marie in favour of Marc Garneau,
the Liberal Party candidate. Mr. Garneau is about harvest the fruit of almost
12 months of campaigning spent meeting and listening to the residents in the
According to Mr. Garneau, "A few days away from the vote, in
Westmount-Ville-Marie as everywhere else across Quebec and Canada, it is
clearer than ever that the Liberal Party of Canada is the only voice for
progressive Canadians in the House of Commons."
Present more than ever since the start of the by-election aborted by
Stephen Harper, Mr. Garneau ran a positive and constructive campaign on the
ground; a campaign that reflects his passion to serve his country and the
citizens of Westmount-Ville-Marie. Himself a resident of the riding, the
Liberal candidate centered his campaign on local and national issues, such as
the fight against homelessness and poverty, the protection of the environment
and sustainable development, the development of our municipal infrastructures,
the promotion of our culture and heritage, Canada's image in the world, as
well as economic prosperity and stability throughout the country.
"I have taken nothing for granted! My team and I ceaselessly worked on
this campaign and shall continue to do so until the very last minute, in order
to ensure the true voice of change is heard in Ottawa. In the same manner,
Liberals in the riding take nothing for granted and are mobilizing to vote
next Tuesday to ensure a resounding Liberal victory in Westmount-Ville-Marie,"
argued Mr. Garneau.
Of course, Mr. Garneau did not forget to underline the very positive
reception given to Stéphane Dion's Emergency Economic Plan by the population.
"During the last few days, countless numbers of residents have told me that,
for them, only the Liberal Party of Canada has a true plan to deal with the
economic uncertainty that we are facing. Apparently, voters are mobilizing in
great number behind Mr. Dion's Emergency Economic Plan," underlined the
Mr. Garneau also believes that the citizens of Westmount-Ville-Marie are
rejecting the laissez-faire economics of Stephen Harper. But they want even
less the irresponsible and unrealistic promises of the NDP.
"The approach of Jack Layton's NDP would destroy the economic
productivity of Canada and push our country into an even bigger hole than that
in which the Conservatives are 'leading' us," asserted Mr. Garneau.
In fact, it is not surprising that according to the latest
predictions(1), there is a 25.7% gap between Marc Garneau and his closest
rivals, the Conservative candidate Guy Dufort and the NDP candidate, Anne
Lagacé-Dowson - who are both fighting far behind for the 2nd position.
