Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation officially opens the TSX today
TORONTO, Aug. 1 /CNW/ - The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation connects
with corporate Canada today by officially opening trading at the TSX. The
event also launches the Foundation's Corporate Challenge for the Canadian
Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.
The Run is the largest, single-day, volunteer-led national event
dedicated to supporting breast cancer research, education and awareness
programs. It takes place on Sunday, October 5, in 55 communities across
Canada. Last year, over 170,000 Canadians participated and raised over
Teams play a major role in the success of the Run. Last year, nearly
70 per cent of all Run participants were part of a registered team, and raised
almost 70 per cent of all donations. The Foundation's National Run sponsors
and their employees have stepped up to the plate by creating their own
corporate teams. National Run sponsors include our title sponsor CIBC, Nygard,
New Balance, McCain, M&Ms, Running Room, Canpar, Revlon and Ganong. The
Foundation is encouraging the rest of Corporate Canada to join them.
"Breast cancer connects us all and we encourage Corporate Canada to take
on this challenge and become part of our community of individuals dedicated to
creating a future without breast cancer," says Alison J. Youngman, Chair,
National Board, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. "With the support of many,
a future without this disease is truly possible."
Addressing the needs of Canadians from coast to coast, the Foundation has
regional offices in British Colombia/Yukon, Prairies/NWT, Ontario, Atlantic
Canada and a Central office in Toronto. The Foundation works collaboratively
to fund, support and advocate for relevant and innovative research; meaningful
education and awareness programs; early diagnosis and effective treatment; and
a positive quality of life for those living with breast cancer.
