The Spirit of Africa Embraces the Spirit of Toronto International Film Festival(R)

The Stars Shine at Amarula Cream Sponsored Events

TORONTO, Sept. 6 /CNW/ - In an unprecedented partnership series, Amarula
Cream announced its roster of TIFF sponsored events in Toronto today.
Kicking off the festival, in their position of Official Liqueur of the
Toronto International Film Festival(R) Amarula will be featured at the Gala
Opening evening celebration for the groundbreaking film by Canadian auteur
Jeremy Podeswa, 'Fugitive Pieces'. This kick off will be immediately followed
on Friday the 7th of September with not one, but three other fetes; the
premiere of 'Michael Clayton' starring George Clooney with TIME Style & Design
Magazine at The Design Exchange, the launch of Sienna Miller's clothing line
Twenty8Twelve at Holt Renfrew and the Canadian Launch of 'E! The Entertainment
Network' where the Amarula-colada will be the welcome cocktail for 800
industry and celebrity guests from around the globe. On Saturday, September
the 8th Amarula is presenting a very special evening with Matt Damon and City
TV celebrating the documentary 'Running The Sahara' at the newly renovated
CHUM City TV Lofts at their Festival Centre in the heart of downtown Toronto.
Amarula is perhaps most proud of the activity taking place on Sunday
September 9th where they will, for the second year, be one of the official
sponsors of the '3rd Annual ONE X ONE Gala' hosted by Matt Damon at the Four
Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Featuring a concert performance
produced by Wyclef Jean starring Shakira and an awards ceremony honouring such
notable guests as Richard Gere, Petra Nemkova and Sarah Ferguson The Duchess
of York, ONE X ONE has become one of the festival's most anticipated evenings.
Amarula Cream's involvement with ONE X ONE aligns with their charitable
efforts in their local community - South Africa. Amarula's multitude of
programs provides sustainable health, welfare and economic benefits to the
local 'marula' community and these efforts are the cornerstone of Amarula's
corporate social responsibility in Africa. Approximately 60,000 families in
the Limpopo province rely on Amarula to provide income and a sustainable way
of life.
Toni Hamilton Edwards, Senior Brand Manager for Amarula Cream in Canada
with PMA Canada states, "We could not be more proud of our involvement with
Toronto International Film Festival(R) and our many partners who have made
this activity possible." She goes on to say, "at the end of the day, our
mission is to provide awareness for the region of South Africa and the
wonderful people that work to make it one of the most beautiful places on
earth."
The Amarula Cream festival team will wrap up the festival with a series
of five more Toronto International Film Festival(R)events, including the
closing night gala of the 32nd Annual festival celebrating Paolo Barzman's
'Emotional Arithmetic'.
