The Society of Management Accountants of Ontario announce 2007 Community Service Award recipients

Awards celebrate the outstanding voluntary contribution by CMA Ontario
    members to the wider community

TORONTO, Oct. 31 /CNW/ - CMA Ontario, and its 20,000 members, is proud to
announce that Eran Goldenberg, CMA, and Vice President of Finance at Scott
Associates Architects, Toronto, and Wayne Clarke, CMA, retired, of Burlington,
are named recipients of the Society's 2007 "Community Service Award".
Established in 1990, the CMA Ontario Community Service Award recognizes
the meritorious voluntary service of members, and seeks to encourage all
members in their commitment to community service.
This special honour is bestowed on members who have demonstrated the
attributes of selflessness and kindness for the benefit of others. Award
recipients are nominated by fellow CMAs, who have recognized their outstanding
sustained service to their communities. Names are then forwarded to the
Ontario Board of Governors for final approval.
Each Community Service Award (CSA) recipient selects a charity, or
charities, of their choice to receive $1,000 in the CSA recipient's name.
Mr. Goldenberg has selected The Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto to receive
his contribution, while Mr. Clark has chosen Scouts Canada and the Ostomy
Association of Ontario to receive $500 each.
Mr. Goldenberg was nominated for a 2007 award because of his leadership
as an executive director of "Canstruction Toronto"
(www.canstructiontoronto.com). Established in 1999, Canstruction Toronto is a
competition that involves teams of architects, engineers, designers and
students that attend schools of Architecture, Engineering and Design that
compete against one another by building and designing structures made entirely
from canned and bag food. The food used to build the structures is donated
after the competition to the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto. The 2006 event
collected a record 62,000 pounds of food.
Mr. Clarke volunteers the majority of his time with the Burlington Scouts
Group Committee. He has held numerous positions such as Chair, District
Executive, Treasurer, Advisor, Councillor and Ranger for the past 29 years. In
2006 Wayne received the Medal of Merit from Scouts Canada in appreciation and
admiration for the hard, dedicated work carried out as a volunteer. Adding to
his community duties, Wayne in late 2006 became the Treasurer of the Hamilton
and District Ostomy Association. The Association serves as a support group for
people who have undergone a variety of surgeries that involved some type of
ostomy.
