TORONTO, March 26 /CNW/ - The Salvation Army is honoured to host a
retirement celebration for Lieutenant-Colonel Hugh Tilley, APR - Ontario
Government Relations Officer for The Salvation Army in the presence of The
Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. The Honourable
George Smitherman, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care will bring greetings
to Lieutenant-Colonel Tilley and guests at the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton
Centre Hotel - 525 Bay Street, Toronto - March 26, 2008 at 6:30pm.
Lieutenant-Colonel Hugh Tilley devoted his life to The Salvation Army as
an Officer in 1952. In his Public Relations career he conducted 40 Red Shield
Appeals, raising approximately $150,000,000, the last campaign being in Metro
Toronto where over $9,000,000 was raised. He has been a Rotarian for 38 years
and served as a member of the Board of Rotary Clubs in Thunder Bay and
Winnipeg. He is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and served
two terms as a Director of the Toronto Chapter.
In 1992 Lieutenant-Colonel Hugh Tilley transferred to Ottawa as the
Federal Government Relations Officer and Director of Overseas Development.
In July of 1996 Lieutenant-Colonel Hugh Tilley retired. In May 1997 The
Salvation Army asked him to take on the responsibility as Ontario Government
Relations Liaison Officer, a position he currently holds. Effective April 4,
2008 Captain Brenda Murray will assume the responsibility as The Salvation
Army's Ontario Government Relations Officer.
