The Results are In! 71% of Canadian Women Prefer Stylish Men to Handsome Ones.

BBC CANADA launches national style survey to find out what women really

    TORONTO, April 21 /CNW/ - A new Harris/Decima survey, commissioned on
behalf of the BBC CANADA series Trinny and Susannah Undress the Nation,
uncovered the true attitudes of Canadian women regarding the importance of
men's style - or lack thereof.
In a new five-part series, style gurus Trinny & Susannah (What Not to
Wear) are back to take on some of Britain's most dire style issues. Each
episode sees the ladies tackling a major fashion scourge with their trademark
wit and no-holds barred attitude. One of the juiciest episodes highlights
men's style sensibilities, prompting BBC CANADA to commission a national
survey to find out what Canadian women think about men and their style.
Pretty boys beware: an overwhelming 71% per cent of women would rather
date an average looking man with great fashion sense than a handsome man with
absolutely no sense of style. Believe it or not, even George Clooney wouldn't
score many phone numbers if he walked into a bar wearing an "I'm With Stupid"
When it comes to stylish men in Canada, when asked to choose the best
dressed man on Canadian television, 33% of women who voted say that George
Stroumboulopoulos (The Hour) deserves the highly-coveted title. Seamus
O'Reagan (Canada AM) is the runner-up with 29%, with heavy support coming from
the East Coast (where 42% of women give Labrador-raised O' Reagan their vote).
Proving that Canadian women appreciate originality, 21% voted for Don Cherry
(Hockey Night in Canada), making him the bronze medalist in this category.
Women from Manitoba and Saskatchewan showed a particular affinity for Cherry's
bold fashions, giving him 30% of the vote in those provinces.
When it comes to men with no style in Canada, 38% of women agree on the
ultimate fashion faux-pas for men - the dreaded socks with sandals
combination. Women in Quebec find this combination especially offensive as 60%
of women in Quebec gave it their fashion thumbs down. Other top fashion crimes
include too much jewellery (23%), tight fitting/ill-fitting clothing (22%),
novelty tops (8%), and sports attire (1%).
Trinny & Susannah Undress the Nation airs Fridays at 8 pm ET and
Saturdays at 7 pm ET beginning April 25. In the premiere episode, the ladies
create a series of shopping rules and set up a 'men's-only' shopping night in
an effort to rid the nation of the dreaded dress pants-with-white-running-shoe
combos. Other episodes see the ladies re-sizing all of the women in one
village with the correct sized bras and overhauling terrible work uniforms in
workplaces across Britain.
