The One and Only Shaved Head Challenge Raises more than $3.8 million for Children With Cancer!

MONTREAL, June 9 /CNW Telbec/ - The 5th provincial edition of the Leucan
Shaved Head Challenge took place on June 8 in an atmosphere filled with
emotion and solidarity. Indeed, the results of this edition are exceptional
and exceed last year with near to 7,300 shaved heads and more than
$3.8 million raised in donations for children with cancer!
Thanks to the generosity and commitment of partners, celebrities and
participants throughout Quebec, the funds raised will be used by Leucan to
offer children with cancer and their families many services such as emotional
support, financial aid, recreational animation service, massage therapy,
social and recreational activities, school awareness and support to clinical
research which considerable progress provides the kids with greater chances
for a successful recovery.

The Most Important "Shave-o-Thon" in Quebec!

The Leucan Shaved Head Challenge was launched in 2001 in Montérégie by
Mr. Serge Tremblay. It's without a doubt the most important event in the
province in which people have their heads shaved to support the cause of
children with cancer. With more than 25 event locations throughout Quebec
(mainly on June 8), and with group challenges in companies and schools, it's
the largest "shave-o-thon" of its kind for the amount of participants, money
raised and simultaneous event locations. While the goal is to raise funds, the
event is also a gesture of solidarity toward children who have cancer and who
must undergo chemotherapy treatment. The treatment causes these children to
lose their hair, thus changing their appearance. Last year, the Challenge
raised more than $3.4 million in donations and more than 6,500 persons got
their heads shaved.
