The Movie Network, Mpix and Viewers Choice bring viewers a riveting fall season

TORONTO, July 14 /CNW/ - This fall Astral Media's The Movie Network, Mpix
and Viewers Choice bring viewers an exciting television line-up that includes
exclusive new programming and returning favourites from HBO and Showtime,
Hollywood hit movies, Canadian original series, classic movies and
action-packed live events. Complete descriptions, premiere dates,
high-resolution images and contact information for this programming are
available at: http://tv.astral.com/highlights.
The Movie Network's highly anticipated slate of new HBO programming
includes the premiere of True Blood, a dark vampire drama from Six Feet
Under's Alan Ball starring Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. Three new half-hour
comedies will also be introduced, including Little Britain in America, a
spin-off the wildly successful British series, Australian import Summer
Heights High and the animated series The Life & Times of Tim. Entourage, HBO's
hit comedy that follows the ups and downs of Hollywood's hottest fictional
"bromance," will return for a fifth season this fall. Subscribers can also
look forward to a provocative line-up of original HBO documentaries such as
The Recruiter, Portrait of a Lady, Section 60: Arlington National Cemetery and
Fall From Grace: The Ted Haggard Story.
The Movie Network also welcomes back three hit series from Showtime,
beginning with season three of Dexter, the hit one-hour crime drama that stars
Michael C. Hall as a loveable serial killer who spreads his own brand of
justice throughout Miami. Joining the Dexter cast for season three is Jimmy
Smits as an assistant district attorney from one of Miami's most powerful
families. Also returning for a second season is the daring and risqué comedy
series Californication, starring David Duchovny, and season three of crime
drama Brotherhood.
Making its debut in October 2008 is the new Canadian original series
Sanctuary that comes from some of the creative talents behind Stargate SG-1
and Stargate Atlantis. Starring Amanda Tapping, Sanctuary is shot almost
entirely on green screen and is the first television series in North America
to use the RED camera system, a digital medium that offers more than double
the resolution of a high definition camera. In early 2009, The Movie Network
will unveil the Paul Gross executive produced drama ZOS: Zone of Separation
and playwright George F. Walker's The Weight, two Canadian original series
which chronicle a war abroad over religion and a war at home based around the
drug trade.
Subscribers can also look forward to The Movie Network's jam-packed
line-up of movie premieres this fall, including: The Bourne Ultimatum; Michael
Clayton; The Assassination of Jesse James; American Gangster; Bee Movie; There
Will Be Blood; I Am Legend; National Treasure: Book of Secrets; Atonement;
Cloverfield; and Charlie Wilson's War.
In addition, a wide array of classic movies and film stunts will premiere
on Mpix, including a Johnny Depp marathon, a spotlight on the Coen Brothers, a
tribute to legendary Canadian comic John Candy, and an encore presentation of
The Ultimate Bond Marathon, featuring 18 classic James Bond films that are
also available in high definition. Film premieres include such classics as
American History X, Stand By Me, Hair, Love Story and The Way We Were.
