    Date: Monday August 31, 2009
    Time: 11:30 a.m.
Venue: Ashbridge's Bay Yacht Club, 30 Ashbridge's Bay Park Road, Toronto

The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario will
officially open the 2009 Mobility Cup, an international regatta for disabled
sailors to be held August 31-Sept 4, 2009 at Toronto's Ashbridge's Bay Yacht
Club. One hundred participants are registered for the event coming from BC,
Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, the United States and the
UK.
This year's event marks the 10th Anniversary of the Disabled Sailing
Association of Ontario, the sponsoring organization.

Sam Sullivan, a high-level quadriplegic, and former mayor of Vancouver,
initiated the first Mobility Cup, held in Vancouver in August 1991, in order
to promote his then fledgling adaptive sailing program on the West Coast. Ten
years ago in the summer of 1999, The Mobility Cup came to Toronto and left in
its wake the Disabled Sailing Association of Ontario and what has become the
country's largest sailing program for persons with a disability.
Other special guests at the official opening include Sam Sullivan, former
Mayor of Vancouver and founder of Mobility Cup, Henry Stifel of the
Christopher Reeves Foundation and Toronto Councilor Sandra Bussin.
