HILLS OF HEADWATERS, ON, Oct. 4 /CNW/ - The Hills of Headwaters Tourism
Association received its first Ontario Tourism Marketing Award last night for
its new visitor guide and map.
"The Hills of Headwaters is an authentic, sophisticated rural getaway
just steps outside of Toronto, and now, thanks to its new visitor guide, and a
savvy distribution strategy, more people will want to head for the hills,"
said Robin Garrett, President and CEO of the Ontario Tourism Marketing
Partnership (OTMPC), which administers the awards.
The award also recognizes the association's strategic approach to
distribution, which included a Globe and Mail insertion to select postal codes
in the GTA and high traffic locations.
The winners of the third annual Ontario Tourism Marketing Awards were
announced during the province's two-day tourism marketing summit, held in
The awards recognize marketing campaigns and news stories that
successfully promote the province as a must-see destination. Nominations were
open to all organizations or individuals in the tourism hospitality industry
operating in Ontario. The categories covered key sectors within the tourism
industry including travel trade, industry, journalism and photography. OTMPC
Chair William Duron acted as master of ceremonies during the awards
"Congratulations to the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association on its
marketing award," said Duron. "The visitor guide and map, with its
high-quality photographs, does a great job of promoting the area's
accommodations, events and attractions."
