The First Nations of Quebec remember: 10,000 years of existence / 400 years of colonialism



    WENDAKE, QC, Aug. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - Next August 9, at Place D'Youville in
Quebec City, the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador (AFNQL) will
be celebrating the International Day of the World's Indigenous People by
organizing various activities to commemorate the major historical events that
marked the history of the Aboriginal Peoples over the last four hundred years
in Quebec. The Chief of the AFNQL, Mr. Ghislain Picard, Historians Camil
Girard and Denys Delâge, Amnesty International, and various Aboriginal artists
(Claude McKenzie, Marcel Godbout, Samuel Savard, Wendy Moar and Pascal Ottawa)
will be participating to this event to which the population is invited. The
activities will start at eleven o'clock at Place D'Youville.
