The elite of the wine-making world converge in Montreal for the 6th edition of Montréal Passion Vin

    MONTREAL, Oct. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - On October 26 and 27, Société des
alcools du Québec will again be presenting Montréal Passion Vin, the most
prestigious wine-tasting in Canada. It is the sixth edition of this annual
charity event, with proceeds donated to the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital
Foundation.
Once again, the program is impressive. This year's guest producers are
Maison Joseph Drouhin de Bourgogne, Château Gazin, Château Margaux, Mas de
Daumas Gassac, Pommery champagnes and Château Pontet-Canet, as well as Tenuta
san Guido, producer of the highly reputed Sassicaia of Italy, and Torres from
Spain.
Since its first edition in 2002, this unique event has raised more than
$1.5 million for the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Foundation. And it is sold
out again this year, since all 300 two-day packages, costing $1,750 each, were
snapped up several months ago. It is hoped that this year's event will raise
more than $450,000 to benefit patients of Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital.
"Unlike other events of the kind, where the focus is on quantity and
people jostle each other in the crowd, Montréal Passion Vin is distinctive not
only for the rare wines and vintages it features but also for its hospitable
ambience, for the attention paid the service of the wine at the ideal
temperature, the quality of the meals and the great respect for communication
between producers and participants," said Denis Chaurette, president of the
2007 Montréal Passion Vin.
In addition to the distinguished producers mentioned above, guests will
also be able to enjoy the culinary talents of three of Montreal's top chefs:
Richard Bastien from Leméac, Moreno from Marchi du Latini and Claude Pelletier
from Club Chasse et Pêche, whose creations will enhance the value of the
outstanding wines to be sampled.
Again this year, some tastings will be hosted by Michel Phaneuf, whose
wine guide has been essential reading for Quebec wine-lovers for the past
27 years. Jacques Orhon will also preside over some of the tastings. The
closing banquet will be hosted by journalist and TV personality Sophie
Durocher, and actor and program host Patrice L'Ecuyer will preside over the
live auction.
