The *Directors College and the **Collège des administrateurs de sociétés of Université Laval Announce Reciprocal Agreement for Designations

HAMILTON, ON, Sept. 16 /CNW Telbec/ - McMaster University and The
Conference Board of Canada-joint venture partners in The Directors College-and
the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (CAS) of Université Laval are
pleased to announce today a reciprocal agreement whereby their respective
designations are recognized as equivalent.
Graduates of either program-the ASC designation ("Administrateur de
Sociétés Certifié") offered by the CAS; and the C. Dir. designation (Chartered
Director) offered by the Directors College-can apply to receive the reciprocal
designation of the other.
This agreement recognizes the national stature and equivalency of
Canada's only two university accredited director certification programs.
"While each organization will continue to confer its own designation upon
its graduates, under the terms of the agreement, graduates of one program will
be able to obtain the designation of the other program upon application and
without further study or examination", said Paul Bates, Dean of the DeGroote
School of Business at McMaster University.
"This agreement is the product of a rigorous process of due diligence by
both Colleges to ensure the fundamental structure and content of the two
respective programs are equivalent. Moreover, the CAS and the DC have agreed
on a uniform examination," said Dr. Robert Mantha, Dean of Université Laval's
Business School.
Both Dr. Christopher Bart and Yvan Richard, respectively Principal / Lead
Professor of the Directors College and CEO of the Collège des administrateurs
de sociétés, initiated this process and will be implementing this agreement in
the years to come.

Founded by The Conference Board of Canada and the DeGroote School of
Business, McMaster University, The Directors College is the first and only
university-accredited director education program in the country that leads to
the professional designation Chartered Director(*) (C.Dir(*)).

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Quebec's financial sector
regulator l'Autorité des marchés financiers, and the Government of Quebec's
ministère du Conseil exécutif, joined forces with Université Laval to create
the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés which offers the premier and only
university certified, private and public sector corporate governance program
in Québec.
