HERNDON, VA., September 12 /CNW/ - Curam Software, the leading provider
of Social Enterprise Management (SEM) software solutions, today announced that
the Commonwealth of Australia's Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) has
successfully completed the first step in aDVAnce, its application
modernization initiative. Supporting Australia's approximately half a million
veterans and their families, the program will improve customer support as well
as enhance service delivery and outcomes.
Conceived to empower the Department to streamline social service delivery
to veterans, aDVAnce is comprised of many modernization components, three of
which include the Participant Registration Service (PRS), Education Assistance
Service (EAS), and the Client Contact Facility (CCF). The first phase in an
agency-wide program of progressive deployments, the solution will enable the
Department to improve its service delivery capability and focus on long-term
outcomes for Australia's veterans and their families.
DVA's aDVAnce system, using the Curam Business Application Suite as its
Integrated Application Framework, is the centerpiece of the Department's
application modernization program. The PRS, a participant management system,
will support over 200 DVA employees as they implement programs and administer
income support, compensation and health care services to veterans. Since
implementing PRS, DVA has delivered three additional aDVAnce programs - EAS,
an education assistance service delivery program to children of veterans
(March 2007), the CCF, a client contact management facility which is part of
an enhanced telephone services program for clients and providers (May 2007),
and DocTracker, enabling better management of military personnel information
exchanged with the Department of Defence (August 2007).

deployment over the next few years, this platform will provide a new, more
flexible way to deliver services to our clients and streamline our business
processing under OneDVA."
The Curam Business Application Suite provided a large portion of the PRS
functionality "out-of-the-box." Implemented by a joint DVA/Curam Software/IBM
team led by IBM Australia, the PRS allows DVA employees to search for and
register clients on one nationally consolidated application. Previously, DVA
staff searched six separate databases when registering clients - a time
consuming and often error-prone activity. Not only does PRS register members
of the veteran and Defence Force communities, it also acts as a foundation
upon which DVA can attach additional business applications.
The EAS implementation provides DVA with a service delivery program
utilizing rules for eligibility and entitlement processing and integrating
with its legacy environment. As part of the aDVAnce plan to support
streamlined business processing, the CCF implementation enables Service Centre
staff to task queries and changes to other staff around the country using
Curam Workflow(TM) capabilities.
